My Interview with Laney

Here is an idea I got off of Pinterest....interview your child and see what the answers are. I figured it would be fun to do with Laney. Max, of course, is too small to answer them. So, here we go with Laney's interview:
1. What is your favorite phrase: Thank you
2. What is your favorite food: Ice cream and fish sticks
3. Who is the coolest person on Earth: "You (Mommy) :)....oh, no no no, I mean Max"
4. When you grow up, what do you want to do: A teacher
5: What is your favorite color: Orange
6. What is your favorite song: Smurf song
7. When you're outside, what is your favorite thing to do: Swing
8. If you could go anywhere in the World, where would you go: Disney
9. What did you like to play with when you were little: My toys
10. Who is your best friend: Mommy and Madison....little Madison, not big Madison
11. What is your favorite snack: Starburst
12. What's your favorite movie: Smurfs
13. What is your favorite thing to do with Max: Play with Cassius
14. What is your favorite book: Toy Story book

Maybe I'll make this a tradition after each birthday and see what has changed within a year. It's something that would be interesting to follow up on. Honestly, the answers would probably be different if I asked her the same questions in an hour. Who knows!!

Where have the 4 years gone?

It's birthday time in the Reinhart household. Laney DeeAnn is now FOUR YEARS OLD! I think I post this every year, but I'll do it again (and probably will continue to do it here on out)....everyone has told us how fast the years go. Of course, those first weeks of having Laney, I thought to myself, "Yeah right!" I totally agree. In fact, I'm one of those parents that tells people that. Yes, it's true. It might not seem like it will, but it does.
Laney's party this year was at Take the Cake, our favorite bakery! They make the best cupcakes and cakes!! Love them!
Everything turned out great!
The cookies were amazing....

The cake was delicious...

and the cupcake decorating was, well.....messy!

But it was totally worth it!

I wouldn't have changed a thing!

The kids got tatoos of Toy Story characters, which was a big hit of the party!

We were so thankful all of our friends were there to help us celebrate the big day with Laney!

Her orange hat was a fun surprise!

But she loved all of her gifts!

Then it was cake time, everyone's favorite part!

It was time to clean up and head to dinner at our fave spot....El Nopal! Victor was waiting for the birthday girl!
The tradition of smashing whipped cream in her face didn't go over so well with Laney

But she sucked it up, and took it like a champ!

and even shared her treat with her best bud, Charlo!

She enjoyed M&M pancakes in the morning and announced now that she's four, she gets to.....

sleep with Cassius!!! (When she turned 3, she asked Daddy when she could sleep with Cassius. He told her she could when she turned 4. Of course, we all thought she would forget we told her that. She didn't. So tonight, we'll see how long he lasts in her bed!) Let's just say if it he enjoys it, she sleeps well, I'm not complaining about the 80 lb dog not sleeping with us!

Happy 4TH Birthday Laney!

Remembering Miss Ainslee

Yesterday, our dear friends, Travis and Channan Soppe, had their "Angelversary" of sweet Ainslee Ryan. We ask all of our friends and family that follow our blog to lift Travis, Channan, and Adrian up in prayer. Although a year has passed, it's still a long road of grieving for their family.

Pinterest Project

For those of you who know me well, you know I like to be organized. No, I'm not nearly as organized as I would like to be. A lot of that has to do with the two precious kiddos in my life. Love them. Wouldn't change a thing. One thing I've started doing in order to stay somewhat organized is create my "menu" each week so I always know what we'll be eating and avoid the random grocery stops throughout the week. Of course, Pinterest has several ideas of Menu Boards to make. Yes, some might think I'm crazy by liking something like this, but whatever.....

Here is my creation:
I love it! It definitely beats the post it note that I was writing the weeks menu on (and sometimes misplacing it!) And, of course, it coordinates with my kitchen colors! :)

My Newest Addiction

Pinterest.

I love it. I can't help it, I just am obsessed with it. I seriously think if Benji hears "Got it off of Pinterest" one more time, he'll scream. As much as it annoys him, he loves the recipes I'm coming up with.

I know a lot of people are involved in the World of Pinterest, but I've decided once a week to post one of my favorite "pins" on my board.

This week:
Chicken Parmesan Bake I must say is A-MAZING. Give it a try, we did!

A Year of Progress

The time has come....the lovely "Progress Report" time at school. Yes, Laney receives a progress report for her 2 day a week, 3 year old preschool class. This is our first year going to this school, so I'm new to all of the things they do. I must say, I am extremely impressed! For a teacher to take time out of her busy day to evaluate each child and make sure the parents are aware of their child's progress impresses me, especially when it's preschool!

Laney did very well for her first "semester" of 3 year old preschool. She got "U" on almost everything. (U=Usually) The only thing she got an "N" on (N=Not Yet), is participating in singing in class. No, I'm not surprised that she does not participate in singing. She is involved the church choir. When I say, she's involved, I mean that by she goes to the practice to watch everyone sing and play. When it's performance time, she stands up from and looks around. She knows the song, she knows the motions, she just doesn't want to do it. I can't complain about that.

I'm so proud of her (gotta brag a little, I guess) that she can write her own name by herself, give you almost all of the sounds the letters make A-Z, and can recognize all letters in the alphabet (capital and small letters). She knows her birthdate and address. We haven't attempted phone number. I guess my question would be, "What number do I teach her? My cell? Benji's Cell? House?"

Outside of school, Laney is:

She is still in gymnastics once a week and enjoys going, but socializes more than doing anything. She has become more social lately. This past year has been a little challenging for Laney to get her to step out of her comfort zone. So for her to actually go up front at church and stand there....that's huge! She's sparking up conversations with people lately, which is something new for her. She was always one that would answer a question that was asked, but never would talk to a random person about something.

Laney is extremely opinionated about her clothes. This is something that Mom and Laney go round and round about. OK, I get it, she isn't a girly girl that likes the frilly dresses...can't blame her. But come on, who doesn't like leggings? They are the most comfortable things. Ever. Laney doesn't. She would love to wear her jeans or Puma pants with a plain white shirt every.single.day....drives me crazy! I've learned to pick my battles, though. I think she's starting to understand that when we are actually going somewhere, Mom gets to choose. When we're hanging out, she's free to wear what her little heart desires. I'm just glad we got over her obsession with short sleeve shirts and summer PJ (short sleeve and shorts), until next fall, I'm sure!

It's hard to believe I'm planning her 4th birthday party. Where have these 4 years gone? Time flies when you're having fun, right!?!?!
