Let's Get Messy!

We have many traditions that we do during the fall months....I've already posted about AppleWorks, so you've seen the pictures of that!  We've been to ZooBoo (pics to be posted at the costume reveal post!), and here are a few others!  We've added a NEW tradition....making applesauce from the apples we get from AppleWorks!  The kids loved helping me cut the apples and then tasting the applesauce that night!  YUM YUM YUM!  And, I must say, the house smelt A-MAZING!
I worked on peeling and cutting the apples while the kids diced them in smaller pieces, using a plastic knife, of course!!
I had a hard time keeping Max's little hands out of his mouth with the apples.  All that boy wanted to do was eat them!
The next fun fall activity was pumpkin painting!  We were lucky enough to have an 80 degree day last week, so we took advantage of the pretty weather and headed outside for painting!  It made clean up much easier!!
 They painted....
 and concentrated....
 and were just plain silly!
But they enjoyed getting it all over themselves.  And Mom didn't mind either!

A little paint doesn't hurt ya!

The last fall activity we've done is carving pumpkins with Lauren, Luke, and Mamaw Dee

The kids got to wear their costumes down to the lake to show Mamaw Dee, Papaw Joe, Lauren, and Luke their costumes....everyone loved seeing them dressed up.  Laney only had her costume off during these pictures.  The rest of the time, she wore it!  She loves it!

The pumpkin carving was fun, but of course it was time consuming

 but totally worth it!

Luke liked being silly with the pumpkin "guts"  Max wasn't too sure about it!

We had a Buzz Lightyear pumpkin and an Alien pumpkin (both from Toy Story)
NEXT UP.....TRICK OR TREAT!!!

The Start of Fall

Fall is probably my favorite season.  I love all seasons and am always ready for the season change with weather.  In my ideal world, January-April would be Spring, May-September would be Summer, September-November 30 would be Fall.  Winter would be the entire month of December with it lightly snowing every day.  It would be a pretty snow that just lightly dusted the ground until the week of Christmas.  Yeah, not sure that place exists, but I would love it if it did!

Our annual trip to Apple Works was another one for the books.  We decided to go during the week this year and will continue that as long as we can!  I felt like we had the place to ourselves!!

The kids enjoyed running around and seeing all of the pumpkins

The petting zoo was a favorite for both of them

Max enjoyed the slide this year with Daddy

Laney...no so much!  Last year, she went down by herself, but I think because Max went with Daddy, she had to.  Well, it wasn't the best idea.  Her foot got caught between the side of the slide and Daddy's booty.  As you can see in the picture, she came off the slide screaming and not able to walk.  We carried her the rest of the trip and ended the day visiting the Dr.  The Dr then sent us over the the hospital for x-rays.  The x-rays didn't show a break (thank goodness!), but showed some swelling to the tissues.  She said treat it like a sprain and give her ibuprofen and ice it.  Of course, she isn't a fan of icing it, but she realizes that is does make it feel better.

She's doing better today, limping around though.  I'm hoping by the end of the weekend she will be doing much better.  Poor thing....

Her injury didn't stop her from wanting to sit on the tractor.  She loves this thing.  Every year, both kids fight over sitting on it.  Good thing other kids weren't in line this trip!

For some unknown reason, Benji loves the pumpkins with warts.  I think they're gross.  He had Laney kiss a warty pumpkin.  He's not right sometimes.....

Overall, our trip was great (minus the injury!)
