Weekend Getaway

A couple of weeks ago, Benji and I went to Texas to visit some good friends. Benji was actually doing some work in San Antonio during the week, so we figured it would be a good time to go down early and visit with the Soppe family for a few days! Benji and Travis lived together for a year at Indiana State, was in our wedding, and Benji was in their wedding. We really don't get to see each other as often as we would like, but enjoy the times we do share with them. The minute I met Channan, we instantly got along. We love this couple!

We started the weekend out at a Texas Rangers game. I love baseball. Benji loves baseball. What a great evening we had. Eating nachos and hotdogs and having a few drinks with some great company. The night couldn't have gotten better. But it did....it ended with an awesome firework show!
We had such a wonderful weekend sharing stories, laughs, and tears

but most importantly, making happy memories.

We needed a fun weekend away from the hustle and bustle of work and home. Yes, we missed our kiddos dearly, but sharing time with Travis and Channan was much needed.
We got to see their beautiful home, catch up, but most importantly, meet their kiddos

This little guy is one of the sweetest little boys I know (and VERY well behaved!). They have done an awesome job with him. The stories and pictures they shared about their daughter Ainslee proved how beautiful she was and how much she was loved.

We can't wait until the next time we get to see the Soppe family!

Laney's First Soccer Game

We try to keep both of the kids involved in some type of an activity. No, we don't like them to get so involved that they have something every day of the week, but something to keep them active and around other kids. When soccer sign ups were posted, we asked Laney if she would want to play. She jumped on the chance. She had one practice and one game. Let's just say there was more standing around watching rather than playing!

Yes, she's only 3 and this is her first year (and there are two 2 year olds on her team!), so we didn't expect to watch the World Cup
We had some fans on the sidelines "GO LANEY, GO LANEY!"

We had some coaching on the sidelines (or maybe a bribe!)

Although she didn't score any goals (no one on her team did!), she participated and had fun. We just need to do a little more practicing! It makes perfect, right!?!?

First Day of Preschool

Laney had her first day of 3 year old preschool today! She was so excited about going to a new school, having a new teacher, new toys, and meeting new friends! She will be going to Noah's Ark Preschool (where Mommy & Daddy went!) and her teacher is Mrs. Joray (Daddy's first grade teacher!). We have really been "talkin' up" school lately. Last night, we read "The Night Before Preschool" to her. She enjoyed the book so much, she was reading it this morning. The morning went very smoothly....after the initial meltdown on what outfit to wear! :) Mamaw Dee sang "School Days" before we headed out the door. It made my day hearing her sing that to Miss Laney. I received the same phone call from her every first day of school since I was Laney's age. Yes, even in college!
She's getting so big and so independent....way too fast!

But we are enjoying every single moment we have with her.
(notice her new 'do for school!?!)

Before we know it, she will be in high school

Before we know it, she will NOT let me take pictures of her at school!

Before we know it, she will be off to college.

But until then, I'm going to snap as many pictures as I can, kiss her face as much as I can, and enjoy our little Laney Bug.

This age is just priceless!
We pray Laney has a wonderful school year filled with learning, playing, and meeting all new friends!
