Time to Say....BYE BYE!!!

Good Bye Diapers!!!

Mr Max is officially a BIG BOY!!  We have called him a big boy for awhile, but it's official now.  The diapers are GONE in our house!  Can I get a WoooHOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!  As I sat back and thought about this, it has been a straight FOUR and a half years of buying diapers, with a couple of months of overlapping and buying for two kiddos.

I did the 3 day potty training with Max, just as I did with Laney.  Seriously, I swear by it!  I will admit, Max took a little longer than Laney did to "get it".  I was almost tempted to bust the diapers back out after day 4.  I stuck with it and switched a few things around and it just clicked with him.

Of course, an accident here and there might still happen, but I'm proud to say he's doing amazing!  He wears his "undies" all day (nap included) and during the night.

His rewards during potty training were M&M's (he always picked red and yellow M&M's.  Now that we're out of red, he's asking for yellow and green).  The boy knows what he wants, that's for sure!  His big reward was Mickey undies and a Mickey shirt!  (I totally would have splurged for something more exciting, but that's what he said he wanted so I went with it!!  How easy is that!?!)

We have had a few funnies that have happened while training....while outside playing one afternoon, he came running over, "Mommy, pee pee!"  I just pulled his pants down and let him go in the yard.  He went, we cheered, we pulled up his pants and started walking away.  He looked down at his hands and said, "Yucky!"  There was poop all over his hands and shirt.  I thought he had to have fallen in dog poop.  We looked around and couldn't find it, so we started cleaning him up and I turned him around and saw poop ALL OVER the back of his shorts and shirt.  While he was being a big boy and peeing in the yard, he also had to do #2 and didn't inform us.  I guess that's a big difference between boys and girls!  Girls are always sitting down, so it doesn't matter!  I learned my lesson, as did he!!

Way to go Max!!
We are SO proud of you!!

Another First Day

This post is a couple weeks late...oops!  Laney had her first day of 4 year old preschool the week of Labor Day.  She goes Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:40-11:10.  She absolutely LOVES school!

She is going to Noah's Ark again this year and has the same teachers, Mrs. Joray and Mrs. Mead.  There are a few new kids in her class this year and she loves telling me all about what they do each day!  She has already learned a few new things this year.  Of course, we are so proud of her!

I'm enjoying this year as much as I can because, as a lot of you with old children know, the homework will be starting next year.  It goes too fast....

A New Challenge

We were first introduced to the Body by Vi Challenge by my brother.  He and my sister-in-law are about half way through their challenge and doing fantastic!  Healthy eating has always been important to us and we are always trying to incorporate new things to the weekly menu.  Dinner always seems to be easy to figure out, but breakfast and lunch seem to be a struggle.  For me, it was grab a granola bar or a bowl of cereal.  And let's be honest, it was a "real" bowl of cereal, not the suggested serving size.  I mean, who really measures 1 cup of cereal and is satisfied!?!?  Lunch was either a peanut butter sandwich (boring) or a 200 calorie frozen pizza (zero nutrients and still hungry).  Regardless what it was I was eating, it always left me feeling hungry and ready for a snack.

Our challenge consists of drinking protein shakes for breakfast and lunch every day of 90 days.  I will admit, I was pretty skeptical thinking, "Ugh, how boring will that be?"  All of the traditional protein shakes I had were "just OK" but these are delicious.  We are mixing anything from fruit, spices, and pumpkin into these shakes.  Plus, an added benefit is definitely the calcium that I was lacking because I am not a milk drinker.  With my running injury last year, increasing my calcium intake was recommended by the orthopedic doctor.

So we are 5 days into our challenge.  I am shocked with how satisfied I am after having my shake.  I typically am not hungry until it is time for the next shake.  Which decreases the snacking.  That's a plus.  I'm getting more calcium, more fruit, and less calories....win, win right there!  I suggest anyone who has any interest in getting healthier or wanting to shed a few pounds to give it a try!  I can hook you up with a shake plan that meets your needs!  I will keep everyone posted on how our challenge is going!

Rollin' Along

Laney really hasn't been big on bike riding, until this year!  She always had the problem with not being able to reach the pedals on a bike, even her tricycle.  This year, she finally could and loved pedaling around the driveway and the circle at Grammy & Pappy's house.

Grammy and Pappy said they wanted to buy her bike for her.  We looked and looked to find an orange girls bike.  Darn near impossible....until, thank goodness for Amazon, we found one!  It was perfect!  (The picture above is of when she saw them walking the bike down the street to her!)

She LOVED the bike

We hear the question, "Can we go on a bike ride?" many times a day.  It makes us happy that she's enjoying it and wanting to get outside and be active.  It's just a matter of time before Max is asking Grammy and Pappy for his bike!  Luckily, he has a little more length on his legs, he won't have to wait until he's four!  ;)
